Feminist Knowledge Documentation And Communication

Feminist Knowledge Documentation And Communication

Stories have a unique relationship with women throughout history, and storytelling has connected women. Stories have passed from grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and sisters—both as keepers and tellers of stories.

Stories are a powerful medium of information, and storytellers have the power to mold it. Over time, men became the subject, and women became the object of storytelling. Whereas stories of women were silenced while stories of men were glorified, celebrated, and established.

LOOM believes that voices and experiences of women and non-binary people have been excluded, silenced, and erased. Nevertheless, feminist/queer activists have left legacies of stories, alternative mediums of documenting oral histories, writing and theorized struggles, and resistance with a political stand never to quit.

The feminist narrative is all about putting women’s voices at the center of the story, challenging the concept of victimization, and recognizing heterogeneity across caste, culture, gender, sexuality, disability, among others.

The objective of the program:

  • To bridge capacities of women/queer rights activists and document
  • To reframe narratives of women from victims to self-identity and explore feminist documentation as a path to break gender norms and challenge existing theories.
